Pendant Height answers one question: how high to hang pendant lights over a kitchen island, and how many to buy for the length you have.
The numbers follow the range cabinet makers and lighting guides repeat: 30–36 inches from the countertop to the bottom of the shade, with a small shift for ceiling height and for whether the shade is open or closed. Spacing targets about 30 inches on center, with the end shades kept off the ends of the island.
It does not know your local code, the listing on the junction box, or whether a sloped ceiling needs a swivel canopy. Measure, tape the height on the wall, and have the person who will bump the shade walk past it before anything is wired.
